Ca´l Xabú
The hotel Cal Xabú is situated in the small and picturesque village of Cuérigo, surrounded by mountains, native forest and clean trout rivers. It is also close to the well-known ski station of San Isidro.
The building is conveniently set in the centre of the village, in an old, rebuilt XIX century house to which a new modern area has been added, allowing magnificent views on both sides of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
Inside the old house, a "living kitchen museum" has been built with the utensils, furniture and applicances used in the past by the inhabitants of the house and others collected by the owners. The hotel includes two restaurants, one set in the "kitchen museum" and a modern one with wide-open views of the surrounding village and mountains. The gastronomy includes fresh products from the area with a touch of "modern cuisine".
The hotel consists of ten rooms with full bathroom with grooming equipment, central heating, hi-fi stereo, TV and safe. Two of the rooms have appropriate applicances and furniture for disabled people.
Close to the hotel several natural monuments can be found as "Las Foces del Río Aller" and "Las Foces del Pino", which are wonderful places for walking and trekking trough easy-going mountain paths. Harder treks can also be had in the surrounding "Puerto de Vegarada" and "Puerto de San Isidro" with several 2000 metres mountain peaks easily accessible for non-experienced climbers.
The small villages around have good examples of local architecture including farmhouses and "horreos" (wood granaries) as well as several Romanic churches.
Not far from the hotel the excellent "Mining Museum" in El Entrego can also be visited.
Hunting and fishing can also be practiced with the appropriate permits.
